A bit of our history...

A bit of our history...

After 30 years in the construction business, I opened AIRPLUS Heating and Air Conditioning in 1993 to serve the needs of people who deserved the right sized products at a competitive price. We carry most major brands but the ones I recommend as reliable and quality made are AMERICAN STANDARD/TRANE, HERCULES/GOODMAN, MITSUBISHI, NAVIEN, NORITZ, LG, FUJITSU and FRIGIDAIRE. I've sold many brands and was one of the largest Carrier residential dealers in Toronto until 2008, when I chose to go with an American Standard/Trane authorized dealership instead.

There were several problems cropping up that needed to be addressed. Equipment failures with well known brands like Lennox were becoming too common, and Carrier equipment under 5 years old was breaking down as well. We weren't getting the support from Carrier’s head office with customer service and labour costs since the parts were often under warranty, but not the labour. Based on previous good experiences, AIRPLUS had advertised and been recommending Carrier’s equipment as one of the best, and had been installing it in private homes or businesses for some time before these problems started.

Our Valued Clients

It was only natural some of our valued clients got upset when the equipment failed prematurely. They rightfully felt we should have the power to make Carrier pay for the labour but, unfortunately, that wasn’t possible. Finally, we lost faith in Carrier and what we felt was their lack of professionalism.

On the other hand, American Standard/Trane's design and quality control philosophy is excellent and evidenced by a failure rate of less than 2% and a customer satisfaction rate of approx 99%, according to our numbers. As further proof, “Consumer Reports” Magazine rates the American Standard/Trane Furnace and Air Conditioners as best buys. The cost of an average 80,000 BTU High Efficiency furnace installed is between $3500 to $5000. A 2.5 ton high efficiency Air Conditioner installed costs between $3000 to $4500. These numbers are based on efficiency, make, model and installation which equates to time and materials needed.

Today’s trends focus on efficiency measured by the (SEER: Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) and to a lesser but important degree, sound (decibels, db rating), both of which have been influenced by government rebates aimed at higher efficiency furnaces and A/C's. As a result, it’s illegal to manufacture and sell mid-efficiency furnaces in North America as of 2011. Only high units with efficiency ratings of 95% or more and A/C's with a minimum 13 SEER rating or higher are allowed.

The Cost Of Energy

The cost of energy is on everyone's mind. Recent jumps in utility bills might only be the beginning as the media proclaims escalating energy costs could double or even triple in the next five years. Consumers are justified when they demand the most efficient and reliable equipment available. AMERICAN STANDARD/TRANE and GOODMAN/HERCULES fits the bill.

I believe we are on the cusp of an energy revolution and our clientele expects AIRPLUS and the PLUSGROUP of companies to offer the latest and greatest in energy efficient and home automation products. Whether they find us through an online search or a referral, AIRPLUS Heating and Air Conditioning customers get peace of mind knowing they will get the best products available, installed to factory and building code specifications.

They know they're paying for quality products and superior service. Coupled with an outstanding commitment to reliability, our clients know they are getting the best value for their dollar.

Solar Panel Savings

The Ontario Government’s incentives on renewable energy are working. Solar PV roof mounted solar panel systems under 10Kw for residential and small businesses have produced applications for approved contracts at record levels with applicants vying for the guaranteed income of $0.802 kw/h produced.

While this translates to an approximate yearly income of $1000 per Kw installed, that dollar value can vary with brand of solar panel, and the quality and location of the installation.

That's why we offer WESTINGHOUSE solar panels which have the latest design and efficiency technology that produces up to 25% more energy than their contemporaries. This brand is aesthetically more pleasing with up to 80% fewer parts and longer warranties; the WESTINGHOUSE system also received the coveted "Popular Mechanics" best top 10 inventions for 2009 award.

The average cost of a starter PV (photo voltaic) 2Kw system installed is approx $22,000 but as you add more solar panels the cost per kw installed goes down. For example, a 5 Kw system installed on a roof would cost approx $40-$45,000.

We also offer home automation systems starting at a cost of $2695.00 installed. These turn the average house into a smart home allowing you to better control your heating, air conditioning systems, humidification, air filtration, lights, home audio and visual (Stereo and TV's) and security systems. You can use a smart phone or iPad as your only remote and the system is web based giving you the opportunity to use cameras to keep an eye on what’s going on even when you’re not there.
